In the aftermath of the devastating Pacific Palisades fires, this resource center aims to provide residents and local families with up-to-date information, recovery guidance, and helpful links. We’re here to support you on the path to rebuilding and healing.

PPCC Special Meeting Minutes - 1/23/25

Full meeting notes for Pacific Palisades Community:

  • DA throwing the book at bad actors/looters/scammers/price gougers.

  • A lot of work to get people back in ASAP, billions of dollars of support coming.

  • Likely rain this weekend through Monday, mudslides, debris flows and additional damage possible, they’re working quickly.

  • Toxicity is serious, lots of toxins at burn sights. Wear protective gear if you go back soon.

  • Disaster resource center, a lot of disaster relief available there.

  • A lot of events happening this weekend.

  • City getting funding for permitting plans to get expedited permitting review process.

  • Debris removals will have more town halls, one on Sunday.

  • Anchor community institutions being restored is a priority.

  • Looking at temporary infra for people that want to be on site for process.

  • Debris Removal can take up to 18 months.

  • ROE form is free of charge opt in form (coming soon) - no cost to owner offer under FEMA - allows Army engineers to go in and help clean up the property. They recommend opting in to save cost of debris removal.

  • Legislative package introduced for rebuilding with centralized underground utilities.

  • EPA phase 1 clearing properties, then phase 2 army engineers right of entry (ROE) to go in with debris removal.

  • Recommend signing up as soon as possible for ROE.

  • If you choose to participate in ROE you can observe from a safe distance, they will let you know before they go into the property.

  • No specific timeline yet on re-opening of PCH.

  • Water testing is looking promising, still a lot of testing to be done to reassure that water is safe. Can take a few weeks to get through.

  • Could be a lot of opportunity to improve streets and transportation routes during rebuild. This is all being considered.

  • Red/Green/Yellow tagging on homes is building and safety making determinations on state of structural building damages. Specific implications: Red tag means more than 50% destroyed, if it’s green it’s less than 10% and yellow is between those two.

  • Legal information and insurance information can be found at the County Assessor.

  • More meetings are in the planning stages already.

  • Dial 2-1-1 for 24/7 live assistance or visit 211la.org for referrals to clothing, food, health services, disaster relief, and more.

  • 211 LA Housing Assistance Form: Apply for emergency housing.

Price Gouging

  • Illegal to raise prices >10% on essentials (food, gas, housing) for 30 days after an emergency declaration.

  • Report Overcharges: Online Complaint Tool or call 800-593-8222.

Utilities & Billing

  • LADWP and SoCal Edison have paused billing in affected areas.

  • SoCalGas: Visit SoCalGas Emergency Disaster Relief for info on waived fees or reconnection.

  • Water & Sewer: Providers must work cooperatively with impacted customers to minimize disconnections.

Mortgage Relief

  • Call your mortgage lender about possible forbearance or payment plans.
